*Guest Post* Recipe: Pear Cacao Green Smoothie
Hi everyone, Elanna here! I am absolutely thrilled to be guest posting here at Create Your Great Life! It's even more of an honor because I was a fan before I was a friend! I stumbled across DeAnna's site while working for The Institute for Integrative Nutrition after she wrote in with a question and I immediately started following her posts. It wasn't until a serendipitous meeting at her Clean Eating Support Group 2 years later that we started to become friends. And because I share in DeAnna's love for smoothies, I chose to share one of my all time favorite recipes!
This decadent seasonal smoothie is perfect for a quick breakfast or healthy dessert! The pear chocolate combo is so delicious and provides a ton of nutrition. Raw cacao is chock full of magnesium which is great because 80% of Americans are deficient in it. This mineral supports hundreds of chemical functions in our body including; regulating blood pressure, cardiac and brain health, even the strength of our muscles and bones. Magnesium is also awesome for boosting mood and calming nerves - no wonder we crave chocolate during that time of the month!
When I cut all sweeteners out of my diet, this recipe was a go-to when I needed something to satisfy my sweet tooth. I hope this inspires you to pick up some pears at the farmers market and swap this in place of your favorite dessert!
Pear Cacao Green Smoothie

- 2 Tbsp. raw cacao powder
- 1 cup (large handful) baby spinach
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Tiny pinch sea salt
