Summer Reading List: GreatLife Edition

There's something about summer that just lends itself more to reading than other times of the year. Maybe it's just me but I ♥ to grab a great book for the train rides out east (hello, Montauk!) and those luscious beach days. Of course as a New Yorker who rides the subway, there is ALWAYS time for a little cover-to-cover escape all year long.

So whether you're packing your overnight bag or just want something good to get into on your commute, dive into any of these and you won't be disappointed!

One of my favorite chick-lit authors who penned New York Times Best-Seller Something Borrowed. This book is a juicy page-turner about where the lines cross and blur between love and sports.

The story of a 'dysfunctional' family forced to sit Shiva while their lives, secrets, resentments and love for each other unravels right before their eyes, and everyone else's. Absolutely hilarious at times, heart-felt and a super speedy read.

For lthose who loved the book The Help, this story will draw you in from the first page until the moments after you finish. Captivating and unbelievable, you will feel like you are somewhere between the kitchen house and the big house, not knowing your own place. Read it!

A light-hearted, frantic, wry, uplifting story told in on-going letters. This book is fast-witted and will keep you on your toes. I laughed out loud at times.

This true story will have you picking up your jaw off the floor at times. A coming of age story about a women who hikes over 1,000 miles on her own, against all odds. From the tag-line "from lost to found on the Pacific Crest Trail," that about sums it up! I ♥'d it!

There's a little place in my heart where this book crawled right in and plans to stay forever. Unless you live under a rock you've surely heard about the young adult book that is sweeping the hearts of readers (of all ages) everyone. This story is candid, sweet, and a perfect display of the resilience and purity of love. It will also have you cracking up at time, crying at others, sometimes both at the same time.

An intro into true and lasting health and happiness that will feed your body, mind and soul. Looking for a boost of health or happiness this summer? Grab this book and join the ripple effect.

A throwback to late 1930s New York City, very Gatsby-ish in era with romantic and friendship twists and turns as a young woman finds her place in society somewhere in between.

Fellow New Yorker and inspirational spirit junkie brings her third best-seller a practical and fun 40-day guidebook of subtle shifts for radical change and unlimited happiness.

Because I am a total cookbook junkie, and Kris Carr is one of my favorite health gurus, also author of my most loved Crazy Sexy Diet book. Recipes to keep you busy all summer long!

Have you read any of these? What are you favorites? What's next on your reading list?
