Recipe: Tropical Green Superfood Smoothie
I am a huge smoothie gal in the warmer months. I love to replace a breakfast or afternoon snack with a vitamin and nutrient packed shake. It's also a great way to pack in those dark leafy greens that boast Vitamin A, Vitamin B-12, Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin B-6, Magnesium, Protein + Fiber. Not to mention the protein, omega-3 and nutrient rich seeds that will keep you feeling full, satisfied and energized all day.
I always say the easiest way to stay on track with your health goals is to have a well stocked fridge and pantry where ever you spend THE MOST time. You can sub out almost any frozen fruit in this recipe, as well as subbing the greens (this is one of my favorite combinations).
This smoothie taste like you're laying on the beach, under a palm tree, taking in the crystal clear water. I just had a mini day dream...but you know what, flavors will do that to you. This combo is every bit as flavorful and delicious as it is healthy!
You will need:
1 whole frozen Banana (I peel and freeze it the night before)
Roughly ½ cup frozen Pineapple (or frozen Peaches work well)
A handful of fresh Spinach, washed
A bunch of fresh Kale, washed (you can remove the stem if you prefer)
1 tbsp. unrefined cold pressed Coconut Oil
Pinch of Chia Seeds
Pinch of Hemp Seeds (or Flax Seeds)
A generous cup of organic Coconut Water or filtered water
To make:
In a high speed blender, place all ingredients in order above into your blender container. Blend away, adjusting liquid to vary the consistency (more liquid for smoother smoothie, less for thicker smoothies). Enjoy!
